A QUIET CERTAINTY

Mark and I are embarking on one of the biggest things we have ever done - planting a church.

When I tell people they look aghast - their expressions read; “why would you want to do that?” (And that’s just the Christians!)

The answer to their look is this: God said “go and do it now” and we obeyed. As a teenager I used to beg God to use me – I can’t very well complain now if he wants to take me up on the offer can I?

What has surprised me the most is the quiet assurance I have felt in my spirit from the moment we embarked on this journey... I checked my spirit several times for foolish rose tinted spectacles – yes they are there – but I’m not wearing them when I say this: I know that not only are we doing the right thing at the right time... but that it is going to be successful.

At the end of last year God brought us a prophecy that there are people living in the Malmesbury area who have been waiting for this church. Maybe you are one of those... God has seen you, He knows what’s in your heart, He knows your frustrations and He says Now is the time for you to soar. Isaiah 40:31 “Those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”

We believe God has called us to be a different church – a new wineskin – it is going to be an adventure seeing how that develops and how the new flavour matures. But for now one thing remains: I just can’t help feeling a quiet certainty in my heart about the success of Hope church.

Jesus said; “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18 – Hope church is His church... it’s that simple!
